Syaru Shirley Lin is the founder and chair of CAPRI, leading its initiatives to strengthen Asia’s resilience through policy research and cross-sector collaboration. She is also a nonresident faculty senior fellow at the Miller Center of Public Affairs, University of Virginia, and an adjunct professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She was a nonresident senior fellow at Brookings Institution from 2020 to 2025. Prof. Lin serves on the steering committee of the Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience, launched by the World Economic Forum, and sits on the boards of several global companies and nonprofits, including Langham Hospitality Investments, Goldman Sachs Asia Bank, TE Connectivity, MediaTek, and the Focused Ultrasound Foundation. Her book, Taiwan’s China Dilemma, examines how evolving identities shape cross-Strait economic policy. Previously, she was a partner at Goldman Sachs, where she led private equity and venture capital in Asia. She received her Ph.D. and master’s from the University of Hong Kong and her bachelor’s degree from Harvard College.
