David W. Su is Corporate Senior Vice President and General Counsel of MediaTek, Inc.in Taiwan. He is in charge of MediaTek’s legal and intellectual property functions. Prior to joining MediaTek, Mr. Su was a Senior Director in Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (TSMC). At TSMC, he has led several legal divisions, including intellectual property and business transactions. Before he began a career as a corporate counsel, he was in private practice at Taiwan’s largest law firm Lee & Li, Attorneys-at-Law, as a partner specializing in litigation and intellectual property laws.
Mr. Su is currently the Chairman of the Taiwan Trade Secrets Protection Association (TTSP), an organization formed by Taiwan’s leading technology companies to promote legislation and policies for the protection of technologies. He is also board member of the Asia Pacific Intellectual Property Association (APIPA); the Taiwan Chapter of the Licensing Executives Association (LES); and the Cornerstone Intellectual Property Foundation.
Mr. Su received his LL.B. from National Taiwan University. He also earned an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, and an SJD from the University of Wisconsin Law School. He was an adjunct associate professor at Taiwan’s National Chengchi University and National Tsing Hua University, where he taught contracts and trade secrets law.
