CAPRI Highlights Challenges to Asia-Pacific Health Systems at Prince Mahidol Award Conference 2024

CAPRI representatives attended the prestigious Prince Mahidol Award Conference (PMAC), held from January 24–26, 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand, titled “Geopolitics, human security and health equity in an era of polycrises”. PMAC is an annual international policy-focused health conference bringing together global leaders, health experts, and policymakers. The CAPRI delegate to PMAC included founder and chair Syaru Shirley Lin, board member Chang-chuan Chan, interim director of research Caroline Fried, and Senior Fellows Feng-jen Jean Tsai and Minah Kang.

At the conference, CAPRI presented a posted on its Summary Report for the Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience (PHSSR). Prof. Lin also delivered a presentation on the report, which highlights four common issues affecting health systems in the Asia Pacific: population aging, climate change, digital health, and workforce challenges. Prof. Chan, who is a distinguished professor of public health at National Taiwan University, has also written a preface in CAPRI’s PHSSR report on Taiwan’s health systems.
