To mark the launch of CAPRI’s partnership with the Brookings Institution, a closed-door expert roundtable brought together Brookings members and a diverse set of Taiwanese experts to discuss Taiwan’s resilience amid the second Trump administration’s trade and foreign policy shifts, and their broader implications for the Asia Pacific.
At this CAPRI Conversation, Mireya Solís of the Brookings Institution, Kristy Hsu of Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research, and CAPRI board member Alicia García Herrero discussed how Taiwan and other US partners in East and Southeast Asia are actively recalibrating their trade and industrial strategies amid the intensifying great-power competition.
CAPRI and CAPRI USA co-hosted a trilateral conference in Copenhagen with Copenhagen Business School and the University of Virginia, bringing together researchers, entrepreneurs, and policy leaders from Asia, Europe, and North America. The panelists explored new models of entrepreneurship and innovation tailored to local and regional contexts.
Policymakers should build sustainable ecosystems, especially for small businesses, rather than replicating Silicon Valley unicorns, suggested the speakers.
CAPRI’s Third Annual Forum gathered over 300 participants, including 100 students, in Taipei. With a keynote by Sir Robin Niblett and panelists including policymakers from Taiwan, business leaders from Asia, and scholars and other experts from across the globe, the forum explored challenges and regional responses to rising geopolitical tensions, climate and health vulnerabilities, and economic uncertainty, as well as Taiwan’s growing role in global education and exchange.
CAPRI recently visited Tokyo and New Delhi, engaging with top policymakers, researchers, and institutions, to strengthen institutional ties and explore collaboration on shared regional priorities.
